Rubber Dam
Inflatable flexible membrane dam (EDPM)
AbstractAn inflatable rubber dam is a flexible hydraulic engineering structure composed of a high-strength synthetic fiber fabric core and a rubber-coated exterior. It achieves water retaining and discharging functions through inflation or water filling. Characterized by simple structure, short construction period, low cost, flexible operation and ecological friendliness, this type of dam is widely applicable to scenarios such as flood control, farmland irrigation, urban landscaping, river regulation and temporary cofferdams. Compared with traditional rigid dam structures, inflatable rubber dams can adapt to complex terrain conditions. Moreover, they can be rapidly deflated during flood discharge, which significantly reduces the risk of flood impact. As a result, inflatable rubber dams have become a new type of cost-effective and functional water control equipment in modern hydraulic engineering.

Step-by-Step Procedures for Replacement of Inflatable Rubber DamPre-replacement Preparation & Site SurveyConduct a comprehensive on-site inspection to confirm the dam’s installation dimensions, foundation condition, anchor bolt layout, and surrounding water conservancy facilities.Prepare the new inflatable rubber dam bag (matched with design parameters), sealing components, anchor bolts, inflation system, and professional construction tools (such as cranes, inflation pumps, wrenches).Formulate a construction plan, including water blocking and drainage schemes, and set up safety barriers and warning signs around the construction area to isolate the construction site.Cut off the power supply of the original dam’s inflation and control system, and release residual gas and water in the dam bag to ensure safe operation.

Inflatable/water-filled rubber dam: direct from factory
Components of an inflatable rubber dam (brief): - Rubber dam bag: Made of high-strength rubber fabric, the core structure that forms the dam body when inflated. - Anchoring system: Metal or concrete components fixing the dam bag to the foundation to resist water pressure. - Inflation/deflation system: Pumps, valves, and pipelines for filling (with air or water) and emptying the dam bag. - Control system: Sensors and panels to monitor pressure/level and operate inflation/deflation. - Safety devices: Pressure relief valves to prevent over-inflation and protect the structure.
